Running in Memory of Mum - Congratulations Ann for completing Race for Life!
For Ann, Race for Life is much more than a fundraising event. It is a deeply personal journey that allows her to remember her mum, who sadly died from cancer, whilst helping to raise money to support others affected by the disease.
This year marked Ann's fourth Race for Life, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to a cause that means so much to her. What began as a personal goal became an inspiring journey of determination, resilience and achievement.
Ann wanted others to understand why Race for Life was so important to her. She confidently delivered a presentation to her housemates, sharing how cancer had affected her family, explaining why she takes part each year, and encouraging others to support Cancer Research UK. This was a significant achievement in itself, demonstrating her growing confidence and willingness to share something so personal.
Fundraising became another important part of Ann's journey. She enthusiastically took part in fundraising events, including the Malmesbury Road Coffee and Crumbs afternoon, helping to raise awareness and encourage donations. Her passion and determination inspired friends, family, colleagues and members of the local community to support her challenge.
When race day finally arrived, Ann was exceptional!
Showing incredible determination from start to finish, Ann jogged, tackled the challenging hills with confidence, and proudly demonstrated how brilliant she is. She ran Race for Life with Angela, who said “I’m so, so proud of her. She did absolutely brilliantly and completed the race in her quickest time yet!”.
She crossed the finish line in an outstanding 55 minutes — Well done Ann!
Alongside her incredible sporting achievement, Ann also surpassed her fundraising target, raising an amazing £575 for Cancer Research UK.
Every step Ann took represented the love she continues to have for her mum and her desire to eradicate cancer. Her determination, resilience and compassion shone throughout the entire journey, and everyone at Cocklebury Farmhouse Homes could not be prouder of what she has achieved.
